Gastric bypass surgery a success so far

I had my surgery on Friday, and I came home on Saturday around 6 PM. So far it has been really good. Rob gave me a wonderful blessing on Thursday night, and we both felt my dad was there with him giving the blessing, too. He said that my dad would be there at my surgery whispering in the surgeons ears and overseeing things. I had a lot of peace and comfort going in on Friday. My anesthesiologist came in the waiting area, and that is where he put me under (unexpected). The next thing I knew I woke up a little bit in recovery, and I had a hard time breathing and I had pain at my stomach. They must have taken care of me, because I woke up next in the hospital room (almost a closet) and things were going well. I had a morphine pump that I could click. It made my skin kind of itchy, but I felt pretty good so I didn't mind. The most amazing thing so far is that I haven't been hungry or having cravings! I started on some on Saturday after I could keep an ounce of water down an hour. I also gave myself my own asthma treatments which the respiratory therapist didn't really like. In the past, I haven't had a good experience with them bringing the right meds or coming in on a timely manner, so I told them that I would tell the nurse (for legal reasons) when I did one, and what medications I was using. I think that made a difference for me in my breathing and recovery. I have been doing asthma treatments consistently about every 5-6 hours since Saturday, and I have been putting myself on oxygen just to make sure I am getting what I need to recover. I have had the energy to get up and walk every few hours. So far it is just 2 ounces of broth 3x a day. Rob has been great at taking care of me and the kids. His mom watched M&M while I was in the hospital, so Rob got to spend quite a bit of time with me there which was nice. I will be at day 3 on Monday, and I am still on 2 ounces of broth 3x a day. However, I am supposed to up my water to 3-4 ounces an hour. I have some liquid multivitamin and liquid B12 that I have to take every day. I am going to need to take these supplements and a calcium + Vitamin D for the rest of my life. Not bad since I was taking vitamins anyway. I will be able to take regular pills after 30 days. I have also had liquid lortab which has definitely helped. I have been sore in my abdomen, neck, shoulders, and upper back since Saturday. Other than that, the recovery had been going really well. I pretty much get up and drink water, do an asthma treatment, have my broth, go for a walk, have some water and maybe some vitamins, and then rest again. I am amazed that I haven't been hungry. I had one mentally sad moment Sunday morning. Rob made breakfast for him and the girls which consisted of scrambled eggs, homemade muffins, and bacon. The bacon smelled good, but I was surprised that I didn't crave it. Mentally, I remember, and that was my battle. My body didn't care, though. :) So, I enjoyed my 2 ounces of chicken broth. Broth has never tasted so good! When they weighed me at the Doctor's office on Thursday, I was 325 lbs. So, we will see what happens in the next couple of weeks. I go in the doctors for a follow up in about 2 weeks.
